After finalising mapping and documenting ghost nets in the Baltic Sea in 2023, Ghost Net (Operation Spöknät) started retrieving nets in Blekinge and Kalmar regions with support from the relevant Regional Administrative Boards through a Lova financial contribution.
The activities for 2025 are planned for five consecutive weeks and the goal the different weeks is similar; to retrieve and document as much ghost nets as possible taking weather, diving conditions and diver´s experience into consideration to be able to do this in a safe and efficient way. Please note, however, that the area is very exposed and therefore sensitive to changing weather conditions.
The minimum requirement is T1 and DPV1, but preferably CCR to facilitate gas logistics.
The dates are as follows;
⁃ 28 June to 5 July
⁃ 5-12 July
⁃ 12-19 July
⁃ 19-26 July
⁃ 26 July to 2 August
In connection with the start of the separate weeks, retrieval training will be offered for all divers.
